Band Consortium
Website Accompaniment to Consortium Commission

The composed piece will be a multi-movement work for band in the style of a theme and variations, inspired by Edward Elgar’s “Enigma Variations.” The concept is that of a modular work that can be performed as a whole or with selections of movements. The work will be approximately 12-15 minutes in length, depending on the movements selected.
The movements will work similar to the Enigma Variations, varying in length from 1-3 minutes depending on the style. The difficulty level will be in the grade 3-5 range. The difficulty of each movement will vary, allowing the ensemble to pick the movements that fit their performance level best.

Commitment Date
The buy-in for the consortium is $250. The deadline to join is *October 1, 2023. There are multiple options for payment. We can arrange for payment before the end of your current fiscal year if you like OR you can pay in the new fiscal year.
If the consortium fee prohibits you from participating, please contact us to discuss an alternate fee.
Instrumentation
Piccolo, Flute 1-2, Oboe (cued elsewhere), Clarinet 1-3, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon 1-2 (cued elsewhere), Alto Saxophone 1-2, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Trumpets 1-3, Horns 1-2 (3 & 4 opt.), Trombone 1-2, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, String Bass (opt.), up to but not exceeding 4 percussionists.

Delivery Date
Consortium members will receive their name and institution listed on the inside of the score, a physical score, a PDF of the score and parts, and performance exclusivity of twelve months from the world premiere date in Spring 2024. The music will be shared with all consortium members once completed -
January 1, 2024. A physical score will be shipped on this date.
